Year 2 have been learning about Guy Fawkes trying to blow up parliament with gunpowder in 1605 on the 5th of November. This week year 2 have been creating characters to include in their own fantasy stories. They are also using more descriptive adjectives and expanded noun phrases.
Year 2 have been adding and subtracting this term and learning to do lots of problem solving. They have recently been counting money in pounds and pence to find the total of how much they need to pay for up to two things. They have been learning about change and using money symbols. Year 2 understand how important it is to be able to work with money.
Year 2 have been learning about the exiting gunpowder plot and discovering who Guy Fawkes is. The topic this term is a history one and Year 2 have loved going back into the past to learn about our great history. They have done searches on the internet and used books to learn as much as they can.
Year 2 have been trying to learn how to make a fit Body shape in gymnastics. Much of this term has been spent doing dance and gymnastics. The children are getting very fit and enjoying dancing to music.
Year 2 have been enjoying improving our basic skill in ICT. They have learned how to present their work in a variety of ways and used ICT to support other subjects like maths.
Year 2 have been studying, Judaism amongst other things. They have learned about families and celebrations. Y2 love to share collective worship and think it’s nice to spend time in our Oratory.
