September Sporting events

In the last few weeks, Y5/6 girls and boys football teams have participated in the Middlesbrough School Championships. All 3 teams played in different competitions and coincidently they all won their leagues and finished 3rd overall in the final stages!

Over 30 KS2 Cross Country runners took part in the Primary Schools Middlesbrough Event with Mrs Davies last week. There were particular runs of note for brothers Jack and Will and Daniel R who will go on to represent Middlesbrough in the Tees Valley Finals. In fact all 30 children were commended for their excellent attitudes and determination and represented the school in fine spirit!

October Sporting events

Two groups of Y5/6 children have participated in Tag Rugby festivals at Trinity Catholic College and the Sports Village following training for several weeks after school with Mr Peacock. The competitive festivals were thoroughly enjoyed by the children and deserving of their hard work in training!

Following their success in the previous round, three boys in KS2 (Daniel R, Jack S and Will S) represented Middlesbrough in the Tees Valley Cross Country Finals on Thursday 18th October.  We are so proud of them for this feat!  They competed in a field against runners from Redcar, Hartlepool and Stockton and were a credit to themselves, their families and the school.

November Sporting Events

All our Year 4 and Year 6 children have enjoyed participating in Indoor Athletics competitions last month. These events provide opportunity for whole classes to represent the school in sporting events. Our Year 4 team finished second at the Trinity event-well done!

A group of 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 children took part in the Middlesbrough Primary Schools Gymnastics tournament on Wednesday 21st November. We were very grateful to Mrs Bell, a grandparent in school, who supported Mr Bourner and Mrs Mannion in preparing the children in creative routines involving some complex gymnastic movements. Our Y5/6 team, which consisted of Grace R, Amalie B, Evangeline B, Ruby H, Nieve

KS2 Cross Country

Mrs Davies, who runs our twice weekly Cross country club, selected over 30 children to represent our school at the Trinity College Cross Country competition. In cold but sunny weather they performed admirably. Our Y5 and Y6 Boys teams returned with runners up and winner’s trophies respectively. Particular well done to the following children: 1st place Jack S and Daniel R. 2nd place Joseph R.

Y6 Football

Mr Bourner took a team of Y6 boys to play football at Middlesbrough Sports Village to participate in the Middlesbrough Football Club Primary Schools Cup. They played 5 games and gained 3 positive results. We were proud of their application, fair play and effort.

February Sport

A group of Y5 children hugely enjoyed a Middlesbrough basketball festival on February 5th after a series of PE lessons with Mr Bourner. Mr Bourner was delighted with the children’s attitude and positivity in the face of fierce competition!

Well done to the whole Y2 class who really enjoyed a trip to Trinity Catholic College to participate in an indoor Athletics festival on Tuesday 26th February. After several weeks of training they finished with their class teachers and Mrs Anne Gibson, Secondary PE liaison, they finished runners up!

Year 2/3 children have excelled themselves in recent swimming lessons. A huge amount of certificates over a range of stokes and distances have been presented in our weekly House meetings this month.

March Sport

A group of our Y5/6 girls have been Netball training this half term on a Friday night. Their attitude and commitment in training on Friday nights has been recognised by their coach. They participated in our Catholic Cluster Trinity tournament on Thursday 21st March and a Middlesbrough Primary Schools Event on Thursday 28th March.

All Year 3 children took part in a fun tennis event on Wednesday 6th March – they had a great time learning various racket sports such as tennis, badminton and squash.

Ryan Davies, son of Mrs Davies, our Y6 teaching assistant, has been in school over the last month to deliver high quality PE skills CPD for KS2 staff. Ryan is an England FA coach and we are really fortunate to be able to tap into his expertise. He will return after Easter to work with Reception-Year 2.
